Choosing a church
If you are interested in becoming a member of Liberty church, the first thing you need to know is who we are, what we believe and our mission. We have membership booklets available by request so you can explore if this is the right place for you (we hope it is!). If you have questions about joining us, please speak to one of our leaders who will ne happy to answer your questions.
Water Baptism
At Liberty church, we believe what the bible says about water baptism and encourage all believers to be baptised. This is a significant moment in the life of a Christian and we would love to facilitate and help you celebrate this important time in your life. If you would like to be baptised, please speak to one of the leaders.
The Word of God
We believe the bible is the written word of God. Everything that a believer needs is contained in God’s word and everything we preach and teach at Liberty Church is based in scripture. We encourage you to read and study the bible for yourself and in our Growth Groups to build you knowledge and faith as you mature.
Community Gathering
At Liberty we love to spend time investing in and enjoying our relationships. Sometimes that is a shared meal in the café, a BBQ at a local park or games night in the main hall. Getting to really know people can be hard. This is why we make regular time to just hang out, have fun and really connect with our church family.
What type of church is Liberty?
Liberty is part of an international group of 500 churches, governed by the Assemblies of God organisation. We are a Pentecostal movement who believes that every individual can and should have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to be part of a local, vibrant church who are committed to transforming communities. You can visit the AoG website for more information.
God-centred Worship
We value the time we spend worshiping God together and we encourage everyone at Liberty, to value that time too. Sung worship is only one part of our overall worship and we encourage and make space for different expressions of worship. We prefer to lead with more modern worship songs, using modern language, helping everyone to engaging easily. This is often the time the Holy Spirit is most active in our services, empowering and enlightening believers, giving us hope, strength and endurance for our life journey.
Communion
We follow the bible in taking communion together as a church community, to remember the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus. This is something many believers across the world continue to do. If you have questions about why we practice shared communion, then please speak to one of our leaders.
